483 Gallery Presents: Art In Motion

483 GALLERY is pleased to present Art In Motion, a solo exhibition by abstract expressionist painter Brendan Murphy. Coinciding with the US Open, Art In Motion showcases Murphy’s contemporary approach to portraiture, as he captures the movement, passion, and artistry of some of the top athletes of our time including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, LeBron James, John McEnroe, Rory McIlroy, and Roger Federer. Blending the line between visual arts and athleticism, Murphy’s portraits call attention to the underlying themes inherent to both fields though his exploration of movement and color as a means of expression. A former student of renowned painter Eric Fischl, Brendan Murphyhas been painting for over ten years and is featured in over 500 private and public art collections.

Gallery 483 and Art In Motion are extensions of lifestyle brand Solfire. During one of Murphy’s shows, Guy Laliberté (founder, Cirque du Soleil) encouraged Murphy to share his creative gifts on a broader scale. That challenge was the birth of athletic apparel company Solfire. Solfire uses elements of Murphy’s artwork in each product, creating an exciting collection of high performance athletic apparel. Solfire’s development center is located in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
