Brooklyn Based Painter Brendan Murphy Teams Up With Novak Djokovic to Raise $100,000 for Charity

New York, NY – September 10, 2013 – In the midst of New York fashion week and the close of the US Open, stars banded together for the second annual Novak Djokovic Foundation charity dinner. Founded in 2007, the Novak Djokovic Foundation seeks to foster stimulating, creative, and safe environments for the children of disadvantaged communities, and was successful in raising over 2.3 million dollars at this year’s dinner. One highlight of this year’s dinner was the auction of 20 prints by Brooklyn based painter Brendan Murphy. The 30 x 36 inch prints on canvas were taken from the original piece Djokovic commissioned from Murphy in 2012 – and sold almost instantly. The pieces were purchased by celebrities and financiers such as Adriana Lima, Karolina Kurkova, Steven Schwarzman, Ricky Gervais, and Anna Wintour. Within five minutes, Murphy’s prints raised one hundred thousand dollars for the cause, with the prints going for five thousand each. Murphy’s work can be seen at 483 Gallery at 483 Driggs Ave in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
