Las Vegas, NV – March 21, 2014 – A record-breaking $6 Million was raised at Guy Laliberte’s Second Annual “One Night for One Drop” – a sensational one night only performance at Mandalay Bay. Cirque du Soleil performers, technicians, and workers from all eight shows on the Las Vegas strip worked five months in planning, choreography, and practice for the event in a volunteer effort for One Drop – an organization that raises funds for global water issues. The original production brought out celebrity guests including Guy, Catherine Bachand, Kyle Richards, Holly Madison, Blues Traveler, among others. The performance, choreographed by Muktar O.S. Muktar, was dubbed a masterpiece, reflecting One Drop’s purpose by telling the story of the desertification of the earth.
In addition to the funds raised through ticket sales of the exclusive performance, the night featured a high profile auction, with items such as a week long stay at Guy’s Hawaii oceanfront estate, a tour of Siegfried and Roy’s Jungle Palace estate, as well as Brendan Murphy’s limited edition prints of Novak Djokovic artwork – signed by both the artist and Djokovic. The onstage and online auction were successful in raising over $500,000 for One Drop.
Guy summed up it up for the Las Vegas Sun stating, “This was a totally incredible night. I, like everybody else, saw the show for the first time tonight. That’s not easy for a creative person at the top, but I left it all in very capable hands. It turned out better than I ever expected.
“Tonight has made me the happiest man in the world, and we’ll do it all over again next year. I promise.”
